This is the third in a series of articles about Austeville neighbourhoods
Easily one of the most livable cities in the world, West Vancouver is a paradise for anyone who values natural beauty, outdoor spaces, community amenities and secure living.
Rental living in West Van doesn’t get any better than Austeville Properties’ Shorewood Manor. Residents of the 22-storey, oceanfront tower’s one- and two-bedroom suites enjoy breathtaking water and mountain views from their large windows and balconies as well as the convenience and security of on-site building managers.
This fully accessible building’s common areas have recently been updated. The building now offers a heated indoor swimming pool and sauna facility. But perhaps the best attribute of this community-oriented building is its location.
Straddled between the charming West Vancouver neighbourhoods of Dundarave and Ambleside, residents can easily walk to just about every imaginable amenity and convenience.
West Vancouver is home to a thriving arts community. Shorewood residents can always find a good read, a book on tape or even the latest soundtracks in the well-stocked West Vancouver Memorial Library. The Silk Purse hosts all kinds of cultural activities; the Ferry Building Gallery showcases local artists; and the Kay Meek Centre boasts impressive offerings of music, theatre and film. The community’s cultural highlight has to be the famed (and free!) Harmony Arts Festival that brings first-class artisans, artists and musicians together for 10 days every August.
There are no excuses for sitting still in West Vancouver, especially for Shorewood Manor residents. The popular Centennial Seawalk that links the district’s most popular parks is just steps from the building’s front door. For organized activities, the West Vancouver’s main recreation complex—with a community centre, seniors’ centre, swimming pool and an ice rink—offers classes in everything from aquatics to yoga at reasonable prices. There are also numerous private fitness studios within a short walk. Finally, there are those magnificent mountains just up the hill just waiting to be experienced by adventurous hikers, bikers and skiers.
Shorewood residents have their pick of pharmacies, grocery stores, dry cleaners, medical professionals, nail salons and even a weekly farmer’s market that runs from May to September. Between the villages of Ambleside and Dundarave and Park Royal Shopping Centre, every errand can be run within a two-mile radius of the building.
A hop, skip and jump from the action
West Vancouver’s peaceful charm is offset by the fact that the urban sophistication of Vancouver’s downtown is a short car or Blue Bus ride to the east. Head westward on scenic Marine Drive and you will reach BC Ferries’ Horseshoe Bay terminal where you can ride the waves to Nanaimo or the Sunshine Coast.
